Families at Sea Interactive Exhibition

Kilkeel is, and has been for years, an important fishing port and the harbour is home to one of the biggest fishing fleets in Ireland. And now that rich maritime heritage will be celebrated in a new project, organised by the Kilkeel Development Association. Conor Keenan is the project manager and has been visiting local families to gather their fishing stories.The original intention had been to display the information on traditionally printed interpretation panels.

However, due to lack of space, the Visitor Centre would only have been able to display the information for three families at any one time. 1440 were able to recommend and deliver the implementation of three digital interactive displays which allow all the information collated by Conor to be displayed at any time. Also the addition of audio to the presentation has allowed some of the original interviews to be showcased – these unique characters help bring the exhibition to life for young and old.

We also developed an educational game for younger audiences which will prove particularly beneficial for the school groups who come to visit.
